Gainsborough Wharf Ltd designs, builds and manages long-term residential boat moorings. We create brilliant places to live that sensitively regenerate our historic waterways, enhance bio-diversity and build on the cultural fabric of local neighbourhoods.
We completed our first two wharfs in central east London, Gainsborough Wharf and Haggerston Wharf in 2015. We continue to own and manage these wharfs on behalf of the people who live there.
Our wharfs are fully residential and have the highest quality facilities for life afloat. These include keypad entrances, ambient lighting, integrated bike racks, CCTV and state-of-the-art pump out facilities. The designs have been meticulously thought through, which combined with the wharfs’ coveted locations, has seen them become some of the most sought after moorings in London.
As a business we work collaboratively with a wide range of partners, including the Canal & River Trust, relevant local authorities, the Environment Agency, land owners, ecologists, landscape designers and tree protection officers.
The business was founded by two long-term boaters, Simon and Henry, who’ve spent decades between them travelling the waterways and know every corner of London’s canals and rivers. We continue to live, work and mess about on all types of boats.
Gainsborough Wharf is looking to build and manage other residential moorings elsewhere in London and beyond.
